EU border crossing France - Germany

The Route nationale 424 , or N 424 or RN 424 for short , was a French national road .

history

The road branched off from 1933 to 1973 on the "Col de la Chipotte" from a crossing with the national road 59 Bis and first led to the banks of the Rhine , from 1961 via the "Barrage de Marckolsheim" to the border to Germany .

In 1963 the national road 424 from Saint-Blaise-la-Roche was led directly to the "Col de Steige", 534 meters above sea level, instead of the national road 420 and Bourg-Bruche. She swapped her number with Départementsstrasse 50 in the Bas-Rhin department. The highest pass on the road is the “Col du Hantz” at 641 meters above sea level, over which the departmental border between Vosges and Bas-Rhin runs.
