Street as B9

The Route nationale 68 , or N 68 or RN 68 for short , was a French national road .

The street number was first established in the national road network in 1824. It goes back to route 86 impériale.

The route led from an intersection with the national road N66 in Bartenheim-la-Chaussée to the border with Germany at Lauterbourg. The road ran a few kilometers west of the Rhine . At the border it turned into federal highway 9 leading to the Dutch border .

In 1973 the entire route of the national road was  downgraded to the D468 département road .

It was completely in the French region of Alsace . During the occupation of Alsace by German troops of the Third Reich during the Second World War , the street was part of Reichsstraße 9 .
