The Route nationale 78 , or N 78 or RN 78 for short, was a French national road .

history

The road existed from 1824 to 2006 and goes back to Route imperialé 96. Until 1973 it ran between Nevers and Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux . Their length was 261 kilometers. In 1973 the section from Nevers to Chalon-sur-Saône was downgraded in Départementstrassen, in 1978 the section between Chalon-sur-Saône and Saint-Marcel was taken over by the new management of the N73, and in 1978 the route was relocated between Saint-Marcel and the intersection the N396 north of Louhans , so that this course resulted:

  • N 477 near Saint-Marcel - Thurey
  • D 178 Thurey - Simard
  • N 396 Simard-Louhans-le Guidon
  • N 78 Louhans-le Guidon - Saint Laurent-en-Grandvaux

The old leadership was downgraded to Départementsstraße 978. With the 2006 reform, the N 78 was completely downgraded.

N78a

The N78 A was from 1933 led a side branch of the N78, the Saint-Marcel branched off from this and on a more southerly route than the N78 to N6, bypassing the old city center of Chalon-sur-Saone. In 1953 the road became part of the N78. In the 1960s, a new connection was established between the N6 and N78 in the north of Chalon-sur-Saône, which has been numbered D978 A since 1973 .
