The Route nationale 5 A , N 5 A or RN 5 A for short, was an eleven kilometer long branch of the Route nationale 5 , which was established in 1869 and branched off at Les Rousses near the Swiss border and to the northeast parallel to the border and the river Orbe, then crossed it, ran into the Vallée de Joux . From 1937 to 1970, the numbered main road 79 to Friborg followed the border. In 1973 it was downgraded to Departementstrasse D 415.
