Current course of the road

The current national road is a two-kilometer connection between the junction of Autobahn 6 and the former national road 51 (today's Départementsstraße 372 ).

Historic course of the road

The historic national road ran from Château-Thierry to Saint-Venant from 1824 to 1973 . This goes back to the route impériale 43. Their length was 202 kilometers. After its declassification, the number was used for the connection between national road 7 and motorway 6 , which until then had been signposted as national road 7 ^E.In 2006 a section of this route was downgraded. From 1949 to 1973, national road 37 from Arras to Péronne shared a route with national road 44 . This route was integrated into the route of National Road 17 in 1973 .
