The Francilienne (French: La Francilienne ) describes the third ring road around Paris, located between the second ring of Autobahn 86 (also called super-périphérique ) and the much larger Grand contournement de Paris . In the final stage as a complete motorway ring it will be called Autobahn 104 , but so far only a short section has been built under this name.

Much of the Francilienne has already been built as expressways, which are then designated as national road 104. Furthermore, the road connection is completely missing in the western part. In the final stage, the Francilienne will completely enclose the capital region Île-de-France - the name is derived from this region.

The expansion into a complete motorway ring was originally intended for the period 2011 to 2015. The plans for the western part were started in 2006 and five variants were presented in 2009, but due to the public display and the expected objections, the start of construction for the western part had to be postponed until the end of 2010. The final planning approval decision was expected in the course of 2011. In August 2011, the government decided to split the extension into three stages. First the road was to be extended to Achères , then to Orgeval and finally from Orgeval to Autobahn 13 . A public inquiry was started without giving an exact start of construction.

The mayors of the towns of Poissy , Carrières-sous-Poissy , Conflans-Sainte-Honorine , Achères , Méry-sur-Oise , Maurecourt , Villennes-sur-Seine , Saint-Germain-en-Laye and speak against the further extension of the Francilienne Jouy-le-Moutier .

The road also has a side branch that branches off at the confluence of the N 104 with Autobahn 1 and runs along the northern edge of Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport to National Road 2 . This road is called National Road 1104 .

comparison

When completed, the ring road with an estimated 160 km length will be of the same order of magnitude as the London Orbital with 188 km and the Berlin Ring with 196 km.
