history

Gonesse is the birthplace of the French King Philip August (August 21, 1165).

On August 27, 1783 , the balloon designed by the scientist Jacques Charles and built by the brothers Anne Jean and Marie Noël Robert floated to the ground in Gonesse . It had taken four days to fill it with gas on the Parisian Champ de Mars, 16 kilometers away . The unmanned flying object with a diameter of four meters terrified the villagers so much that they destroyed it with pitchforks and scythes. The smell of the impure hydrogen reinforced her suspicion that it was the work of the devil.

On 25 July 2000, the French rushed Concorde of Air France with the flight number 4590 from about Gonesse.
