Villiers-le-Bel is a commune and a northern suburb of Paris with 27,676 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department of the Île-de-France region . The distance to the center of Paris is 17.4 km. The inhabitants are called Beauvillésois .

Geography and traffic

Villiers-le-Bel - Gonesse - Arnouville train station

Villiers-le-Bel had a tram from 1878 to 1949 which connected the place with the associated train station. Today the connection is ensured by the RATP bus route 268.

The city ​​has a connection to the RER line D via the Villiers-le-Bel - Gonesse - Arnouville train station in the municipality of Arnouville .

The former Route nationale 370 , today's name RD 370, runs through the village.

Population development

The first noticeable increase in population is brought by the railway with a train station just three kilometers from the town. The number of 2000 inhabitants is exceeded by 1870. By 1930 the number of inhabitants doubled.

Much stronger growth began in 1955, when 1,600 apartments were built east of the town in a large housing program.
