Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt is a municipality with 14,883 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Île-de-France region , about 20 kilometers from Paris . It belongs to the canton of Deuil-la-Barre and the Arrondissement Sarcelles in the Département Val-d'Oise .
history
The name of the parish comes from the eponymous Saint Brictius of Tours (* around 370, † 444), also Britius, Brixius, Briccius or Bricio, who was the fourth bishop of Tours and successor of St. Martin in this office. A document from the 13th century assigns the village to the dominion of the noble family Montmorency . In the 18th century it belonged to the Count of Vienna, brigadier of the king's armies.
