Aulnay-sous-Bois [ ɔlnɛsubwa ] is a French city located around 15 kilometers northeast of Paris in the Seine-Saint-Denis department . It was called Aulnay-lès-Bondy (or even earlier Aulnay-les-Bondies) until 1903. The inhabitants are called Aulnaysia .
It has 85,740 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), of which around 55,000 live in Aulnay-sous-Bois-Nord and around 25,000 in Aulnay-sous-Bois-Sud. This makes it the fourth largest city in the department.

Aulnay-sous-Bois gained national fame in November 2005 due to the unrest that originated in this region.
economy
The car manufacturer Citroën set up a factory in 1973 on the municipality's territory. The Citroën SA was taken over by the competitor Peugeot SA in December 1974 , since April 1976 the company PSA is called Peugeot Citroën . The plant employed around 3,000 people. Production was stopped on October 26, 2013, and the factory closed the following December. From 1973 to 2013 around 8.5 million vehicles were produced in Aulnay-sous-Bois.
The community was also the site of the Compagnie des Freins & Signaux Westinghouse in the Second after the war from 1945 to 1949 the "European" transistor of Herbert F. Mataré and Heinrich Welker was developed "Le Transistron" said.

Aulnay-sous-Bois is connected to public transport in the greater Paris area with two stations on line 4 of the Paris tram : through the Rougemont - Chanteloup station and one of the line's terminus, Les Moulineaux , where there is also a connection to the RER B rapid transit line . There are also numerous bus routes available for local public transport.
