Le Blanc-Mesnil is a French city in the Seine-Saint-Denis (formerly Seine-et-Oise ) department, northeast of Paris , with a population of 56,783 (as of January 1, 2017). The inhabitants are called Blancmesnilois .

The city gained national fame in November 2005 due to the prolonged unrest among young people that originated in this region. Le Blanc-Mesnil is the administrative seat of the canton of the same name .
