Born to Be Alive is a pop song by the French singer Patrick Hernandez from 1978. It is now one of the greatest disco anthems .

Creation and publication

Born to Be Alive was written by Patrick Hernandez and produced by Jean Van Loo. The song first appeared in November 1978 on the French label Aquarius Records .

It was released both as a 7 "single, which still contained an instrumental version, and as a 12" single with the track I Give You A Rendez-Vous as the B-side.

Born to Be Alive was also released on Patrick Hernandez's debut album of the same name from 1979.

Born to Be Alive first entered the Italian and French charts. After the title was awarded a gold record in Italy in January 1979 , it also became popular in other European countries. In Germany, Austria, Sweden and Norway, the single was number one in the charts, in Great Britain it reached number ten. The top position was also achieved in New Zealand in autumn 1979. The song reached number 26 in the US charts.

In Germany, Born to Be Alive took second place in the 1979 annual charts, and the single also received the gold record . In 1988 a remix of the track was released, which made it into the top 20 in the Netherlands. The Sat.1 broadcast Die Hit-Giganten uses Born to Be Alive as the theme song .
