Isabelle Thomas (born November 26, 1961 in Le Blanc-Mesnil ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste .

Life

Thomas studied at the University of Paris-Nord . In 1984, she earned a degree License in Law and in 1985 the degree Maîtrise . From 1984 she was a legal advisor at an association for consumer protection . In 1989 she became an assistant to the President of the French Republic. From 1995 Isabelle Thomas worked for a telecommunications company; initially as a project manager, later as the company's managing director. In 2000 she became the project manager of a company of experts for the Committee on Hygiene, Safety and Working Conditions (CHSCT).

politics

She joined the PS in 1983. For a number of years she was a member of the city council of Saint-Malo and vice-president of the regional council in Brittany . On July 1, 2012, she replaced the resigned Stéphane Le Foll in the European Parliament . Before that, she ran for the National Assembly in the 7th constituency of the Ille-et-Vilaine department , but was narrowly defeated by the UMP candidate , Gilles Lurton .
