Gilles Lurton

Gilles Lurton (born July 6, 1963 in Saint-Servan ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2012 .

Lurton joined the Christian Democratic Center des démocrates sociaux at the age of 18 . From 1982 he worked for René Couanau and from 1988 was his parliamentary assistant . In 1995 he succeeded in entering the city council of Saint-Malo. In 2008 he was elected deputy mayor of the city. This was followed in 2011 by moving into the General Council of the Ille-et-Vilaine department . In the parliamentary elections he ran for the UMP in the seventh constituency of the department to inherit his former employer Couanau and was elected in the second ballot with around 51% of the votes against Isabelle Thomas .
