Pierre-Édouard Bellemare (born March 6, 1985 in Le Blanc-Mesnil ) is a French ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League since July 2019 . The left winger previously spent three years with the Philadelphia Flyers and two seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights .
Career
Pierre-Édouard Bellemare began his career as an ice hockey player at Rouen Hockey Elite 76 , for which he was active in the Ligue Magnus from 2002 to 2006 . During this period he and his team became French champions in 2003 and 2006, and with Rouen he also won the Coupe de France , the national cup competition , in 2004 and 2005 . In 2005 he received the Jean-Pierre Graff trophy as the best young player in the Ligue Magnus.
In the summer of 2006 Bellemare received a contract with Leksands IF from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. In the 2008/09 season he was the best scorer in the league with 31 goals and reached the second division championship with his club. He then missed promotion with Leksands IF in the Kvalserien and joined the Skellefteå AIK from the Elitserien for the 2009/10 season , for which he was henceforth regularly on the ice.
After eight years, Bellemare left Sweden and joined the Philadelphia Flyers from the North American National Hockey League for one season in June 2014 . There the French became a regular player straight away and received a new contract for two years with improved conditions after the end of the season. This was repeated in March 2017 when Bellemare accepted another offer from Philadelphia.
In June 2017, he was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft . With the team he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup in the 2018 playoffs , but lost to the Washington Capitals there . After two years in Las Vegas, his expiring contract was not renewed, so he joined the Colorado Avalanche as a free agent in July 2019 and signed a two-year contract there.
International
For France , Bellemare took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior C World Championship in 2002 , the U18 Junior B World Championship in 2003 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 2004 and 2005 . In the senior sector, he was in France's squad at the B World Championships in 2005 and 2007 and at the A World Championships in 2004 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2016 .
He also represented the Europe team at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and took second place with the team.
