Career
Nolan Pratt began his career with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League . During the 1993 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the fifth round in 115th place by the Hartford Whalers , but played for the Winter Hawks until 1995. He then played for the Whalers' farm team , the Springfield Falcons in the AHL , before making his debut in the National Hockey League during the 1996/97 season . In 1997, the Whalers moved to South Carolina and were renamed Carolina Hurricanes . Pratt played for the Hurricanes until the end of the 1999/2000 season before he was given in an exchange deal to the Colorado Avalanche in June 2000 . In return, the Hurricanes received Sandis Ozoliņš and a second-round draft pick, while the Avalanche got a first-round pick and two second-round voting rights alongside Pratt.
After only one year in Colorado, he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning in June 2001 against a six-round draft pick. With the Lightning he was able to win the Stanley Cup at the end of the 2003/04 season . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Pratt was signed by EV Duisburg at the end of the season and was able to celebrate the championship of the 2nd Bundesliga with the Füchsen . After this success he returned to Tampa.
Two years later he was not given a new contract in Tampa and was only signed by the Sabers in November 2007 , as many regular defenders of the Sabers were injured at that time.
He spent the following two years with Amur Khabarovsk from the Continental Hockey League before he was committed in November 2010 by Rauman Lukko from the Finnish SM-liiga . In the summer of 2011, Pratt decided to end his playing career and was hired as assistant coach by the Springfield Falcons from the AHL. The Canadian worked there until the summer of 2015 before moving to the Lake Erie Monsters as an assistant coach within the league . Since summer 2016 he has been working in the same position with his ex-team Colorado Avalanche.
