Nazem Kadri (born October 6, 1990 in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Colorado Avalanche from the National Hockey League since July 2019 and plays there on the position of the center . Previously, Kadri spent a total of nine seasons in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization .

Nazem Kadri began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the London Jr. Knights. He was then active from 2006 to 2008 for the Kitchener Rangers from the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , with whom he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the OHL championship, in the 2007/08 season . He then moved to their league rivals London Knights , for whom he completed two seasons. In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft , the Canadian with Lebanese roots was selected in the first round as the seventh player of the Toronto Maple Leafs , where he signed a three-year contract. The center made his professional debut in the National Hockey League for Toronto on February 8, 2010 in the game against the San Jose Sharks . The 2010/11 season he began in the NHL roster of the Toronto Maple Leafs and was sent to the Toronto Marlies on the farm team during the season . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season in January 2013, he was brought back to the Maple Leafs team and established himself there over the course of the following seasons.
In the 2016/17 season, Kadri reached the 30 goal mark for the first time and confirmed this performance the following year. After a total of nine years in the organization of the Maple Leafs, Kadri was transferred to the Colorado Avalanche in July 2019 together with the Swede Calle Rosén and a third-round right to vote in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft . In return, they gave Tyson Barrie , Alexander Kerfoot and a six- round vote to the Canadian team in the same draft.
International
For Canada , Kadri took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2010 , where he finished second with his team. He made his senior debut at the 2014 World Cup .
