The 2004/05 season was the 83rd season of Ligue Magnus , the top French ice hockey division . The Hockey Club de Mulhouse became champions for the first time in the club's history . The Sangliers Arvernes de Clermont were relegated to the second division.

mode

In the main round, the 15 teams played 28 games each. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. The teams in places 9 to 12 of the main round then played in a placement round for 9th place. The last three in the main round contested a relegation round, the last placed in the relegation had to compete against the second division champions. For a win after regular playing time and overtime, each team received two points, for a draw and a defeat after overtime there was one point and for a defeat after regular time zero points.
