Karl Dewolf (born February 21, 1972 in Lille ) is a former French ice hockey player and coach who, during his active time from 1989 to 2012, took part in the Winter Olympics twice with the French national ice hockey team.

Career

Karl Dewolf began his career as an ice hockey player at HG Dunkerque , for whose professional team he was active from 1989 to 1992 in the top French division, which was then called Division 1 . The defender then spent one season each at his league rivals Diables Rouges de Valenciennes and Hockey Club de Reims . In the 1992/93 season he received the trophy Jean-Pierre Graff as rookie of the year as a player from Valenciennes . From 1994 to 2003 the national player was on the ice for HC Amiens Somme in Ligue Magnus and won the French championship with his team in the 1998/99 season for the first and only time in his career . In 1997, 1998 and 2003 he was runner-up with Amiens. The two-time Olympic participant ended his career at his ex-club HG Dunkerque, with whom he was relegated from Ligue Magnus to third-rate Division 2 until 2007. From 2004 to 2010 he worked as a player-coach for Dunkerque, where he was also assistant captain between 2007 and 2009. After a one-year break, he played again for the second division Toulouse Blagnac Hockey Club in the 2011/12 season before ending his active career at the age of 40.

International

For France , Dewolf took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B European Championship in 1990 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1991 and 1992 . In the senior sector, he took part in the B World Championships in 2001 , 2002 and 2003 for France and the A World Championships in 1997 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 and 2004 . He was also in his country's squad at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake City .
