Baptiste Amar (born November 11, 1979 in Gap ) is a French ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble in the Ligue Magnus since 2010 .
Career
Baptiste Amar began his career as an ice hockey player at the Lyon Hockey Club , for which he played in Ligue Magnus from 1997 to 2000 . He then left the club and moved to their league rivals Dragons de Rouen for one season , with whom he was French champions for the first time in his career at the end of the season . After this success, the defender left the team and studied for two years at the University of Massachusetts Lowell , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
In the summer of 2003, Amar returned to France and signed a contract with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble , with whom he was very successful at national level over the next six years. With Grenoble, he won the French championship title in 2007 and 2009 , after having become runner-up with his team in 2004. In 2008 and 2009 he won the Coupe de France with Grenoble , in which he and his team only lost in the 2004 final. In 2007 and 2009 he won the Coupe de la Ligue with Grenoble and the Trophée des Champions in 2008 and 2009 . Amar, who was assistant captain from 2003 to 2007 and then team captain at Grenoble for two years, has also received several personal awards. In 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was elected to the Ligue Magnus All-Star Team. In the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons he was awarded the Albert Hassler Trophy as the most valuable player in the Ligue Magnus.
For the 2009/10 season Amar received a contract with Rögle BK from the Swedish Elitserien . For this he scored two goals in 51 games in the main round and gave five assists and finished last in the table with the Swedes at the end of the main round. He then rose with his team in the Kvalserien in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . He then returned to France for the 2010/11 season to the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble, with whom he again won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2011.
International
For France , Amar took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior B Championships in 1997 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1997 , 1998 and 1999 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 and at the A World Championships in 2000 , 2004 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 . He also represented France at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . At the World Championships in 2008 and 2010, he was the assistant captain of France, and at the 2009 World Cup, he was also voted one of the three best players on his team.
