Julien Desrosiers (* 14. October 1980 in Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard , Quebec ) is a French - Canadian hockey player , who has been the summer of 2005 with the Dragons de Rouen in France's Ligue Magnus on the position of the center plays.
Career
Desrosiers first played in his junior years from 1997 to 1999 with the Rimouski Océanic in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . This had selected him in the QMJHL Entry Draft 1997 in the fourth round in 52nd place. After two years there, in which he had increased his points yield from 24 in his first season to 68 in his second season, the striker moved within the league to the Drummondville Voltigeurs , where he played two more years.
Since Desrosiers had not been selected in the NHL Entry Draft , he moved to France in 2001 , where he was hired by the Étoile Noire de Strasbourg in the second division Division 1 . There he was the team's top scorer in his first professional season and third-best in the entire league. With the Slovak Miroslav Pažák he shared the title of the season's best goalscorer. The performance of the 22-year-old rookie drew the attention of the Ligue Magnus teams to him and so he moved to the Diables Noirs de Tours for the next two years . The change to the higher division was not easy for Desrosiers and only the change to the league rivals Diables Rouges de Briançon in the 2004/05 season brought improvement. The attacker became the league's top scorer and was appointed to the league's all-star team for the first time.
His performances eventually led to the striker being signed by the Dragons de Rouen . Since his move, Desrosiers has won four championship titles , twice the Coupe de la Ligue and once each the Coupe de France , the Trophée des Champions and the IIHF Continental Cup . He was personally appointed five more times to the league's All-Star Team, received the Albert Hassler Trophy together with Baptiste Amar and ended the season once as the best assists in the main round as well as top scorer and top scorer in the play-offs .
International
Desrosiers first played for the French national team in 2005 . At the World Cup of Division I in 2005 they finished the tournament in second place behind Italy , and in 2006 behind Germany . It was not until the World Cup in Division I in 2007 that the French managed to move up to the top division. There the French-Canadian took part in the World Championships in 2008 and 2011 .
Personally, Desrosiers was named the best Group B striker at the 2005 Division I World Cup.
