history

The Diables Rouges de Briançon were founded in 1934. Until the 1949/50 season, only French played for the club, before the two Czechs Konya (goal) and Vonka (attack) were committed. During the 1962/63 season, the club temporarily stopped playing, but this was resumed in the following season. After the runner-up championship in 1988 represented the greatest success for the Diables Rouges up to that point, they were then passed through to fourth-class Division 3 until 1992 . From 1993 to 1997, the team managed to return to France's elite league with three promotions in four years.

Since returning to Ligue Magnus in 1998, Briançon was close to winning the title several times, but always had to admit defeat to the respective opponent in the title fight. In 2005 and 2006, winning the Coupe de France was missed twice in a row . The club also failed in the Coupe de la Ligue (2008 and 2009) for two consecutive years . After 20 years, the Diables Rouges were runner-up in 2008 for the second time in their history. After two cup wins in 2008 and 2009 and the league cup win in 2012, the French national championship was won for the first time in 2014 with a 4-3 series in the playoff finals against the Association des Sports de Glisse d'Angers .
