Division 1

The Division 2 is the third highest division in since 1972 French Professional Hockey . Above Division 2 are the Ligue Magnus as the top division and Division 1 as the second division. Including Division 3 as the fourth level.

history

For the first time, an ice hockey championship was played in France in the 1906/07 season. The addition of a second division took place in the 1930/31 season when the so-called 2 e série began playing. In a third class a championship was only played twice in 1934 and 1935. With the division of the 1 re série for the 1973/74 season in Série A and Série B, the third division was reintroduced. The fourth division was finally introduced in 1986.

Today's Division 2 was founded in 1972 under the name 2 e série . She kept this until 1978. In the following years several renaming followed. From 1978 to 1985 it was called National C , in the 1985/86 season it was called National 3 , from 1986 to 1990 National 2 , then until 1992 Division 2 and until 1994 Division 3 . From the 1994/95 season the name Nationale 2 followed again , which, with the exception of the 1995/96 season, was re- chosen as the Division 2 name until 2001. It has had its current name since 2001.
