The Séquanes de Besançon (official name: Besançon Hockey Club ) were a French ice hockey team in Besançon that existed from 1970 to 2003.

history

The club was founded in 1970. From 1989 to 2001 the team played continuously in the third-class Division 2 . It was not until the 2000/01 season that Besançon was promoted to the third division championship in the second division 1 . In this, they immediately took fifth place. They benefited from an increase in the Super16 (now known as Ligue Magnus) and reached the direct march into the top French division. The biggest surprise, however, Besançon came in the Coupe de France , the national cup competition in which they reached the final as a second division. There they were clearly defeated by the Dragons de Rouen with 1: 8. In the 2002/03 season , their first in the top French division, the team reached only four points in 14 main round games. However, due to financial problems, the club had to withdraw the team from the current game before the relegation round was held. The club then went bankrupt and was dissolved.

A start-up plays under the name Besançon Doubs Hockey Club in the fourth class Division 3 .
