The Division 3 is the fourth highest league in since 1986 French Professional Hockey . Above Division 3 are the Ligue Magnus as the highest division, Division 1 as the second highest and Division 2 as the third highest division.
history
For the first time, an ice hockey championship was played in France in the 1906/07 season. The addition of a second division took place in the 1930/31 season when the so-called 2 e série began playing. In a third class a championship was only played twice in 1934 and 1935. With the division of the 1 re série for the 1973/74 season in Série A and Série B, the third division was reintroduced. The fourth division was finally introduced in 1986 under the current name Division 3 .

Division 3 consists of four groups that are regionally composed. Two groups are occupied by eight, the other two by seven teams.
