history
Since the ice hockey tradition in the Haute-Savoie department goes back to the 1930s, it was decided in 1963 to found a new club in Morzine. Initially, the team consisted largely of Swiss players, which was mainly due to the fact that the team's first coach, Willy Trolliet , signed a number of players from his home country for HC Morzine-Avoriaz. After the club had taken first place in the third-class national 3 for the third time in a row in 1986 , they rose to the national 2 . Four years later, the team made it into the top French league for the first time, at that time the Nationale 1 . After one season, the penguins were relegated to the second division. After several promotions and relegations, the team has been back in the top French league since the 2003/04 season. In 2007 the penguins reached the play-off finals of the Ligue Magnus for the first time and lost with 1-3 wins against the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble .
1979 took part for the first and so far only time a women's team of the club in the French championship .
