The 2008/09 season was the 87th season of Ligue Magnus , the top French ice hockey division . The champions were the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble for the sixth time in the club's history . The Bisons de Neuilly-sur-Marne were relegated to the second division.

mode

In the main round, the 14 teams played 26 games each. The top twelve teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played, with the top four teams seeded for the playoff quarterfinals. The last two places in the main round faced each other in the relegation, the loser of which was relegated directly to the second division. For a win after regular playing time and overtime, each team received two points, for a draw and a defeat after overtime there was one point and for a defeat after regular time zero points.
