Matthew "Matt" Amado (born May 7, 1983 in Langley , British Columbia ) is a Canadian - Portuguese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Brooklyn Aviators in the Federal Hockey League since 2011 .

Career

Matt Amado began his career as a hockey player with the Penticton Panthers, for which he was active in the British Columbia Hockey League in the 2000/01 season . The attacker then attended the University of Notre Dame from 2002 to 2006 and played for their team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 2006/07 season , the left-shooter made his professional ice hockey debut when he played for the Chicago Hounds in the United Hockey League . He bridged the summer break with the Brisbane Blue Tongues in the Australian Ice Hockey League , for which he scored 62 points in 20 games, including 39 goals and 23 assists. This made him the top scorer in the entire league.

For the 2007/08 season Amado received a contract with Radio X de Québec from the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey . Then the Canadian with a Portuguese passport went to Europe for the first time, where he played for HC Amiens Somme in the French Ligue Magnus for a year . In 34 games he scored 29 goals and 23 assists, after which he was elected to the league's all-star team. He started the following season at Mont-Blanc HC , but left it after five games and was on the ice for the rest of the season for HC Neumarkt Wild Goose in the Italian A2 series . For the 2011 season Amado signed a contract with his former club from the AIHL, which is now playing under the name Gold Coast Blue Tongues. For the second time in his career he was the top scorer in the league.

For the 2011/12 season Amado was signed by the Brooklyn Aviators from the Federal Hockey League .
