Alexandre Gaudreau Rouleau (born July 29, 1983 in Mont-Laurier , Québec ) is a former Canadian - French ice hockey defender and current official who worked for the Wheeling Nailers and Phoenix Roadrunners in the ECHL as well as the Diables Rouges de Briançon and the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble played in the Ligue Magnus .
Career
Alexandre Rouleau began his career as a hockey player with the Val-d'Or Foreurs from the Québec Major Junior Hockey League , for which he played from 1999 to 2003. During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as the 96th player of the Pittsburgh Penguins . The 2002/03 season ended the Canadian with the Foreurs league rivals, the Québec Remparts . Then Rouleau was under contract from 2003 to 2006 in the organization of the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he was only used in their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins and their cooperation team, the Wheeling Nailers from the ECHL .
In summer 2006, Rouleau signed a contract with the AHL team San Antonio Rampage , but he was mainly on the ice for their ECHL farm team, the Phoenix Roadrunners . In the following season, the Canadian played for the first time in Europe , where he received a contract with the Diables Rouges de Briançon from the French Ligue Magnus . After a season he left this again and switched to their league rivals, the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble . With the team, he was French champion and cup winner in 2009 , and they were also able to secure the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophée des Champions . In the summer of 2012 he joined the VIK Västerås HK from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division.
Shortly thereafter, however, he ended his active career to take on the post of General Manager of the Foreurs de Val-d'Or .
International
With the Canadian national team , Rouleau took part in the Junior World Cup in 2003 and reached the final with his team, in which Russia lost 3-2. After obtaining French citizenship in 2012, he competed with France in the 2012 World Cup.
