The 1995/96 season was the 74th season of the Elite Ligue , the highest French ice hockey division . The Albatros de Brest became champions for the first time in the club's history .

The eight teams played 28 games each in the main round. All eight teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
