François Rozenthal (born June 20, 1975 in Dunkerque ) is a French ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Corsaires de Dunkerque in the third division 2 division since 2009 . His twin brother Maurice is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
François Rozenthal began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the Corsaires de Dunkerque , for whose professional team he was active from 1992 to 1994 in Division 1 , the second French division. Then the winger played for two years for the Flammes Bleues de Reims in the Ligue Magnus and received during this period in the 1995/96 season the trophy Jean-Pierre Graff as Rookie of the Year of the Ligue Magnus. He then played for a year for Reims' league rivals Club des patineurs lyonnais . In the summer of 1997 he signed a contract with the Gothiques d'Amiens , with whom he became French champions for the first time in the 1998/99 season .
For the 2001/02 season Rozenthal moved to IF Björklöven from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. With his team he failed in the Kvalserien on promotion to the Elitserien . During the season, the Frenchman scored a total of 15 goals and provided eleven assists in 52 games. He then returned to his ex-club Gothiques d'Amiens, with whom he was French champion again in 2004. In the following years he was one of the best players in Ligue Magnus, in whose All-Star Team he was selected several times. From 2007 to 2009 he was on the ice for the first division side Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz . Since then, he has been back in his hometown for the Corsaires de Dunkerque, who have now been relegated to third-class Division 2, and where he has been team captain since the 2010/11 season.
International
For France , Rozenthal took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B European Championships in 1992 and 1993 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 1994 . In the senior division for France, he took part in the B World Championships in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 and the A World Championships in 1996 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 , 2004 , 2008 and 2009 . In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake City and in the qualifiers for the 2002 Winter Olympics, in 2006 and 2010 .
