Jean-François Bonnard (born September 14, 1971 in Grenoble ) is a former French ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Jean-François Bonnard began his career as a hockey player with the Ours de Villard-de-Lans , for which he was active from 1989 to 1993 - first in the 1989/90 season in the Ligue Magnus and then for three years in Division 1 , the second French division. The defender then received a contract in his hometown with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble , where he became a leading player in the following years. With Grenoble he won the Coupe de France in 1994 and the French championship title in 1998 . After the club had to spend the 1999/2000 season forcibly in the amateur field due to financial problems, the Frenchman joined HC Junior Milano for this season .

For the 2000/01 season Grenoble resumed playing in Ligue Magnus and Bonnard returned to his ex-club. In the 2003/04 season he was first runner-up with Grenoble and was able to build on old successes with his home club in the following years. In the 2006/07 season he was with his team for the second time in his career French champions. He also won the Coupe de la Ligue with his team in 2007 and the Coupe de France a year later. From 2003 to 2007 he was also assistant captain in Grenoble. After Bonnard left Grenoble, his jersey number 55 was banned by the Brûleurs de Loups in September 2008 and is no longer awarded. From 2008 to 2010, the 2002 Olympian was player-coach for the second division Sports de Glace Annecy . He then ended his active career.

International

For France Bonnard took part in the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1990 and 1991 . In the senior sector, he took part in the B World Championships in 2002 , 2003 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 for France , as well as in 2008 . He was also in his country's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and at the qualifying tournament for the 2006 Winter Olympics .
