Career
player
During his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison , Reinprecht played on the university team and was one of the outstanding players in the university league.
He was not selected by any NHL club in the draft , but the Los Angeles Kings offered him a contract in March 2000. During his rookie - season 2000/01 he drew attention to himself. When the Colorado Avalanche upgraded for the playoffs and signed Rob Blake , he was part of the package that changed in exchange for Adam Deadmarsh and Aaron Miller and two first-round draft rights. He fitted seamlessly into the new roster and won the Stanley Cup with Colorado .
After scoring over 50 points for the first time in the 2002/03 season , he also took part in the 2003 Ice Hockey World Championship , where he won the title with the Canadian national team .
The following season he was given to the Buffalo Sabers . On the same day it was passed on to the Calgary Flames with Rhett Warrener to bring Chris Drury to the Sabers. An injury prevented him from participating in the playoffs, where his team narrowly failed in the Stanley Cup final. He spent the 2004/05 strike season in France with HC Mulhouse . After almost another year in Calgary, he was given to the Phoenix Coyotes with Philippe Sauvé for Brian Boucher and Mike Leclerc . From January 2011 he played at the Adler Mannheim center. In the summer of 2011 he returned to Florida for the NHL. On October 23, 2011, he was given to the Vancouver Canucks together with David Booth in an exchange deal for Marco Sturm and Mikael Samuelsson .
Steven Reinprecht signed a one-year contract in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) with the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers Nuremberg on September 26, 2012 . In his first game of the season against Düsseldorfer EG (6-2), he scored one goal and prepared another. After the season for the Ice Tigers ended after being eliminated in the pre-play-offs, it was announced that Reinprecht would play another season for the Nuremberg team. On February 19, 2014, the contract for the second best scorer in the league in the 2013/14 season was extended for another year. And Reinprecht remained in Franconia. In the 2014/15 season he was DEL top scorer (67 points, 21 goals, 46 assists in 52 games). Reinprecht finished the DEL main round 15/16 with 55 points (19 goals, 36 assists) in 46 appearances as the second best player in this category in the league.
In mid-April 2018, Reinprecht ended his professional career at the age of 41. During his time in Nuremberg, he was on the ice in 318 games and scored 330 points. The Ice Tigers decided not to give Reinprecht's shirt number 28 as an honor.
