Tore Vikingstad (born October 8, 1975 in Trondheim ) is a former Norwegian ice hockey player who played for the DEG Metro Stars and the Hannover Scorpions in the German Ice Hockey League from 1993 to 2013 .

Career

Tore Vikingstad started ice hockey in his Norwegian homeland and made his debut in 1993 for the professional team Viking IK in the GET-ligaen , the highest Norwegian league. There the center was able to assert itself as a regular player and continuously increase its point yield, so that he finally completed a total of 64 missions for the team from Stavanger and scored 35 points . After three years with Viking and two more with league rivals Stjernen , the left shooter moved to Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien in 1998 . During his time there he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 1999 by the St. Louis Blues in round six in 180th position and took part in the 1998/99 season with the FBK at European level in the European Hockey League .

In the summer of 2000 Vikingstad decided to move to league rivals Leksands IF , with whom he was relegated to the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan in the first season . In 2001, the attacker accepted an offer from DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League , for which he was on the ice for a total of seven seasons. In the 2005/06 season Vikingstad was runner-up with Düsseldorf after a 3-0 defeat in the final against the Eisbären Berlin and top scorer of the league together with Dave McLlwain . He was also voted Player of the Year and Center of the Year. The following year he was eliminated with the Düsseldorf team in the semifinals against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers .

At the end of the 2007/08 season , Vikingstad's expiring contract was not extended, after which he had to look for a new employer for the 2008/09 season . His last year at DEG was once again sportingly successful when he reached the play-off semi-finals, where they finally failed with 2: 3 games against the Eisbären from Berlin. Together with his long-time strike partner Klaus Kathan , Tore Vikingstad joined the Hannover Scorpions after the season , with whom he became German champions in the 2009/10 season . He contributed to this success as the best assists in the main round. After spending another year with the Lower Saxony, the 2010 Olympian returned to his homeland in Norway for the 2011/12 season, where he received a contract with the Stavanger Oilers . With this team Tore Vikingstad became Norwegian champions in both 2012 and 2013. After winning the second title, the striker announced the end of his active career due to health problems.

International

For Norway , Vikingstad only took part in the 1995 U20 Junior B World Cup in the junior division. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 and at the A World Championships in 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2006 and 2009 . He also ran for Norway at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .
