Keith Aucoin (born November 6, 1978 in Waltham , Massachusetts ) is a retired American ice hockey player who was active for many years in the American Hockey League and National Hockey League . In 2009 and 2010 he won the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears . At the end of his career he was under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich for three years in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and won the German championship three times with the EHC .
Career
Keith Aucoin began his career as a hockey player on the Norwich University team , for whose ice hockey team he played for a total of four years from 1997 to 2001. He then moved on June 19, 2001 as a free agent to the Lowell Lock Monsters from the American Hockey League . However, Aucoin spent much of the season in the United Hockey League , where he completed a total of 44 games for BC Icemen in the 2001/02 season. Also that season he played for the Florida Everblades from the East Coast Hockey League , for which he was used in a game. On August 2, 2002, Aucoin moved again as a free agent to the Providence Bruins from the AHL.
For the 2003/04 season, Aucoin was signed by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , but he only played for their farm team from the AHL, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks . During the following season, the American was a second time with the Providence Bruins under contract. On August 4, 2005 Aucoin received a contract as a free agent with the NHL team Carolina Hurricanes . In his debut season with Carolina, he played a total of 72 times for their AHL farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters, and made his debut in the National Hockey League , in which he was used six times by the end of the season. For the next two years, Aucoin played mostly for Carolina's new AHL farm team, the Albany River Rats .
On July 3, 2008, Aucoin signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals , but he was handed over to the cadre of the Hershey Bears farm team .
In July 2013, he signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues . There he was in the extended squad to prepare for the season, but could not prevail and was returned to the Chicago Wolves , the Blues farm team , in September 2013 .
In the 2014/15 season , Aucoin played for HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League A , scoring 40 points in 53 games.
From June 2015 he was under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) . In his first season in Munich he was the most successful scorer of his team in the main round with 41 points . In the following season he was again able to become the top scorer (49 points) of the championship team in the main round and advanced to the top scorer of the entire league in the 2017/18 DEL season with 64 main round points, with his 52 assists standing out. Consequently, at the age of 39, he was voted Player of the Year. After the title hat trick in April 2018, he ended his career as an active ice hockey player.
