Also that season he played for the Florida Everblades from the East Coast Hockey League , for which he was used in a game. On August 2, 2002, Aucoin moved again as a free agent to the Providence Bruins from the AHL.

For the 2003/04 season, Aucoin was signed by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , but he only played for their farm team from the AHL, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks . During the following season, the American was a second time with the Providence Bruins under contract. In his debut season with Carolina, he played a total of 72 times for their AHL farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters, and made his debut in the National Hockey League , in which he was used six times by the end of the season. For the next two years, Aucoin played mostly for Carolina's new AHL farm team, the Albany River Rats .

On July 3, 2008, Aucoin signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals , but he was handed over to the cadre of the Hershey Bears farm team .

In July 2013, he signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues . There he was in the extended squad to prepare for the season, but could not prevail and was returned to the Chicago Wolves , the Blues farm team , in September 2013 .

In the 2014/15 season , Aucoin played for HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League A , scoring 40 points in 53 games.

From June 2015 he was under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) . In the following season he was again able to become the top scorer (49 points) of the championship team in the main round and advanced to the top scorer of the entire league in the 2017/18 DEL season with 64 main round points, with his 52 assists standing out.
