Career

Brad Purdie began his ice hockey career with the University team of Maine in 1992. In the 1995/96 season he played for the first time as a professional in the East Coast Hockey League for the Dayton Bombers and in the American Hockey League for the Cornwall Aces . The following three years Purdie denied with different teams of the IHL. For the 1999/2000 season he was hired by VSV Villach in the Austrian ice hockey league . After his personally most successful season with 82 scorer points, the Krefeld Penguins brought him into the German Ice Hockey League . Under coach Doug Mason he became the best center in the league. The series of attacks around Purdie, Patrik Augusta and Christoph Brandner was called the "Magic Triangle" and was an important support in the penguins team.

After the championship title in 2003 , he then moved to what was then Etat-Krösus, the Hamburg Freezers . But with the Hanseatic League he went through a difficult time, especially in his second year. With 34 points in 58 games, he scored less than half the points he was used to from his time in Krefeld. Therefore, he wanted to change clubs again for the 2005/06 season. His ex-trainer Mason brought him to the Iserlohn Roosters , where he stabilized after a mixed start at the end of the season. He extended his contract until the end of the 2006/07 season . In the summer of 2007, Brad Purdie returned to Austria and signed a contract with EHC Black Wings Linz , which he extended for two more years at the end of the 2007/08 season. After a very successful 2008/09 season (49 assists, 24 goals) Brad Purdie extended his contract for one year with EHC Black Wings Linz. In 2011, Purdie decided to end his active career and gain a foothold as a coach. His path led him to the Manitoba bison , where he is currently a co-trainer in the CIS .
