Jeff Ulmer (born April 27, 1977 in Wilcox , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active for many years in the North American minor leagues and in Europe. His brother Jason was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Jeff Ulmer has been playing ice hockey since he was three. With the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League he was in the 1994/95 season and scored 25 goals and 35 assists in 64 games and thus brought it to 60 scorer points . From 1995 to 1999, the Canadian played for the University of North Dakota in the National Collegiate Athletic Association , where he reached 85 scorer points in a total of 135 games.

In the 1999/2000 game year Ulmer came to five missions for the Houston Eros from the International Hockey League , in which he scored one goal, as well as 11 games in the play-offs, in which he again contributed two goals and four assists. In the same season, the right-shooter completed 48 games for Team Canada , where it scored 14 goals and 25 assists. The 2000/01 season Ulmer played for the Hartford Wolf Pack from the American Hockey League . In 48 games he scored eleven goals and 14 assists and also made 21 appearances for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League , where he scored three goals. From 2001 to 2005, the attacker played for three different AHL teams, the Grand Rapids Griffins , Binghamton Senators and Hershey Bears . He also ran in Europe for the Cardiff Devils from the British Elite Ice Hockey League and Rauman Lukko from the Finnish SM-liiga . During this time Jeff Ulmer scored 136 points scorer in 253 games, including 61 goals. He reached the play-offs with his respective team in three years and played an additional 22 games in which he was able to record two assists.

For the 2005/06 season , Jeff Ulmer moved from the Hershey Bears to his first DEL station, the Hamburg Freezers, for a year . There the striker scored 38 scorer points in 51 games in the main round. In the six play-off games, the Canadian scored two goals and four assists. At the Freezers, Jeff Ulmer was the best scorer alongside François Fortier . For the 2006/07 season he signed a one-year contract with league rivals Frankfurt Lions , where the Canadian formed the first line of attack along with Chris Taylor and Patrick Lebeau . He scored 22 goals and 16 assists as well as three goals and two assists in the play-offs. In the 2007/08 season , Ulmer also played for the Frankfurt Lions, with whom he advanced to the semi-finals, but ultimately failed because of the Kölner Haien . He served the season as right winger alongside center Chris Taylor and left winger Jason Young . In power play he was often used as a defender . He scored 20 goals and 33 assists in the main round. He also contributed four goals and six assists in the play-offs.

Via the HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League and the Swiss first division club Friborg-Gottéron , the attacker came to MODO Hockey in November 2008 , where he also ended the 2008/09 season. In May 2009 Jeff Ulmer signed a one-year contract with the Frankfurt Lions in the German Ice Hockey League and was top scorer of the 2009/10 season. After the dissolution of the Lions in the summer of 2010, Ulmer moved again to Russia and was committed by Metallurg Novokuznetsk , but switched to the Swedish Elitserien to Linköpings HC during the season . For the 2011/12 season he received a contract with the DEG Metro Stars from the DEL , which was not extended after the season. After a few months without a club, Ulmer was signed by the Finnish first division team Tappara in January 2013 , before the right-handed shooter was transferred to the NLB team Lausanne HC only a short time later . For the 2013/14 season there was a change to the Austrian ice hockey league , where Ulmer first played for the Slovenian club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana and went on the ice at HC Innsbruck from December 2013 . The Canadian initially had a contract there until the end of the 2014/15 season and ultimately played for Innsbruck until 2016.

For the 2016/17 season he changed to Scotland and signed with the Braehead Clan from the British EIHL in July 2016 . On October 10, 2016, Ulmer and the association parted "by mutual agreement". A few days later he joined the Danish first division club Frederikshavn White Hawks and initially received a trial contract there before signing a contract until the end of the 2016/17 season in early November.

After another season in Austria at EHC Lustenau , Ulmer ended his career in June 2018.
