Jason Young (born December 16, 1972 in Greater Sudbury , Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who played with the Frankfurt Lions in the German Ice Hockey League until 2010 .

Career

As a junior, the center played in his hometown with the Sudbury Wolves , a Canadian professional junior team from the OHL . In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , the left shooter was selected at position 57 in the third round by the Buffalo Sabers . The Sabers sent Young in 1992 in the American Hockey League to their farm team Rochester Americans , with whom he stayed for three years without completing a service in the NHL. The attacker then played for the Canadian national ice hockey team .

After a season in Switzerland with HC Thurgau , the Canadian played in Germany from the 1998/99 season . Young's first stop was the Adler Mannheim , with whom he won his first German championship in 1999 . After one season, the attacker switched to the Kölner Haien , for whom he was on the ice in the DEl from 1999 to 2002 . After losing a final series in the first year, Young was finally able to become German champions in 2002 with the Haien. The Canadian spent the 2002/03 season at ERC Ingolstadt and switched to the Frankfurt Lions for the 2003/04 season , with whom he won his third German championship title in the first year together. The center forward has been the captain of the Frankfurt Lions since the 2004/05 season and this season recorded his personal best of 48 points in the main round, which he surpassed with 62 points in the 2007/08 season and was also the second best scorer on his team has been. This year also resulted in his season best including play-off of 75 points.

On January 20, 2008, Jason Young completed his 600th DEL game against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . In these 600 games, including the playoffs, he was able to achieve a total of 475 points scorer.

After the bankruptcy of the Frankfurt Lions, he ended his career.

Private

Jason Young is married with two daughters and one son. In August 2007 he received German citizenship.
