Fréttablaðið ( The Newspaper ) is Iceland's largest daily newspaper . It is printed in Icelandic in tabloid format and distributed daily to households across the country free of charge.

The newspaper, which has been published since 2001, originally belonged to the media company 365 miðlar . In 2019 365 miðlar sold all shares in its subsidiary Torg ehf. , published by Fréttablaðið, to investors around Helgi Magnússon; initially 50% and in October 2019 the remaining half. The investors have announced that they want to merge the operational business of Fréttablaðið or Torg and the television station Hringbraut .
