365 miðlar
365 miðlar ( 365 media ) was Iceland's largest media company as of 2014 . The company operated five television and radio stations , the news website visir.is and the free newspaper Fréttablaðið . These have now all been taken over by other companies and 365 miðlar is no longer active in this area.
The television channels of 365 miðlar were Stöð 2 , Stöð 2 Sport (including Stöð 2 Sport 2 and other sports channels for live broadcasts), Golstöðin , Bíóstöðin , Stöð 3 , Krakkastöðin , BravóTV and Gullstöðin . The radio stations are named Bylgjan , LéttBylgjan , GullBylgjan , FM957 and X-ið 977 . Stöð 2 , Iceland's oldest and largest private television station , has been broadcasting since 1986, as has the Bylgjan radio station. FM 957 ( Top 40 ), X 977 ( Alternative Rock ), LéttBylgjan ( Easy Listening ) and GullBylgjan ( Evergreens from the 1970s and 80s) are music channels for different target groups. Visir.is is one of the first news websites in Iceland. The Fréttablaðið is a free daily newspaper .
On March 14, 2017, it was announced that the Icelandic telecommunications company Fjarskipti , operating under the brand name Vodafone Iceland , would take over all assets and businesses of 365 miðlar with the exception of Fréttablaðið and Glamor magazine . The Icelandic competition authority approved the acquisition on October 9, 2017 and it was completed on December 1, 2017. Fjarskipti ("Telecommunications") changed its name in the sequence due to the expanded offer in Sýn (about "Sight", "Sight"). In 2019 365 miðlar sold all shares in its subsidiary Torg ehf. , published by Fréttablaðið , to investors around Helgi Magnússon; initially 50% and in October 2019 the remaining half.
