Rhett Adam Warrener (born January 27, 1976 in Shaunavon , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and scout , who played 815 games for the Florida Panthers , Buffalo Sabers and Calgary Flames in the National between 1991 and 2009 Hockey League on the position of defender .
Career
Rhett Warrener began his career as a hockey player in 1991 with the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League , for which he played for a total of four years. During the 1994 NHL Entry Draft , Warrener was selected in the second round as the 27th player of the Florida Panthers . The Canadian played for the Panthers until 1999. In his first season in Florida, he was also on the ice in nine games for the Panthers farm team , the Carolina Monarchs from the American Hockey League . On March 23, 1999, he was given to the Buffalo Sabers . From July 3, 2003, Warrener played for the Calgary Flames . With all his three teams from the National Hockey League Warrener lost the final games of the Stanley Cup : 1996 with the Florida Panthers, 1999 with the Buffalo Sabers and 2004 with the Calgary Flames.
Due to exceeding the salary cap , Warrener was removed from their NHL squad until further notice on June 26, 2008 by the Calgary Flames. He was then unable to play a game in the 2008/09 season due to injury. In the summer of 2009 he ended his active career and then worked for a few years as a scout for the Calgary Flames.
International
Warrener represented the Canadian national team at the 1996 Junior World Championship . The Canadians won the gold medal at this tournament and the defender was on the ice in six games, in which he remained pointless and received four penalty minutes.
