David Jonathan Booth (born November 24, 1984 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League .
Career
David Booth began his career as a hockey player in the United States Hockey League , in which he played in the 2001/02 season for the team of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program . From 2002 to 2006, the attacker played for the Michigan State University ice hockey team for a total of four years . During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the second round as a total of 53rd player by the Florida Panthers . During the American in his first season in Florida also for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Rochester Americans , he played exclusively for the Panthers in the National Hockey League since the 2007/08 season . On October 23, 2011, he and Steven Reinprecht were swapped for Marco Sturm and Mikael Samuelsson at the Vancouver Canucks .
After three years with the Canucks, they terminated his contract early in the summer of 2014, so that Booth joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in July 2014 . His one-year contract there was not renewed after the 2014/15 season. In November 2015, Booth left North America for the first time and signed a contract with Admiral Vladivostok from the Continental Hockey League until the end of the season . After the contract was not extended, he joined league rivals HK Awangard Omsk in mid-November 2016 .
After two years in the KHL, Booth returned to the NHL for the 2017/18 season and signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings . This was not extended in the summer of 2018 and was subsequently unemployed before he returned to Europe in December 2018 and joined the HK Dinamo Minsk . For this he scored 3 points scorer in 18 KHL games.
International
David Booth won the gold medal with the United States at the 2004 U20 World Youth Championship in his own country. Furthermore, Booth scored one goal in seven games for the national team at the 2008 World Cup .
