Patrick Rolland (born June 7, 1969 in Montréal , Québec ) is a former Canadian - French ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach .

Career

Patrick Rolland began his career as a hockey player at Viry-Châtillon Essonne Hockey , for whose professional team he was active in the second-rate Division 1 from 1988 to 1990 . He then played for a year for the Hockey Club de Reims in the top French league before the goalkeeper was between the posts for the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble from 1991 to 1996 - initially two years in Division 1 and from 1993 in the highest League of the country. With Grenoble he won the Coupe de France in 1994 . In the 1996/97 season he became French champions with Brest Albatros Hockey . The following two years he spent with the second division Diables Rouges de Briançon , with their league rivals Ours de Villard-de-Lans he was under contract in the 1999/2000 season. From 2000 to 2005 he appeared again for the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble, with which he then ended his active career at the age of 36.

From 2006 to 2010 Rolland was the head coach of the French U20 national team, which he had previously looked after as an assistant coach. During the same period he also worked as an assistant coach for his ex-club from Grenoble. In 2006 he was also the goalkeeping coach of the senior national team for a short time.

International

For France , Rolland took part in the B World Championships in 2001 , 2002 and 2003 and the A World Championships in 2000 and 2004 . He was also in his country's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
