Louis Labeyrie (born February 11,  1992 in Gonesse ) is a French basketball player .

career

Labeyrie played for Fos Ouest Provence Basket in the third and second French leagues until 2011 and then moved to the first division club Hyeres-Toulon for a year . There he impressed in the 2011/12 season with averages of 9.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per encounter. In the summer break of 2012 he accepted a contract offer from the first division club Paris-Levallois , initially not having the same success there as at his previous station, but steadily increasing his playing time in the following years and collecting European Cup experience. In the NBA's draft process in 2014, the Indiana Pacers secured the rights to the Frenchman in the second selection round in 57th place, but then gave them to the New York Knicks . However, he did not move to the United States , but stayed in his home country. Labeyrie recorded the best statistical values ​​of his time in Paris in his last season in the club's colors, when he scored an average of 9.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in 29 games in the main round of the league.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to Strasbourg IG and took the next development step there. Labeyrie took on even more responsibility in attack in Strasbourg than before in Paris and scored 13 points per match in the French league in the 2017/18 season. He won the title in the French cup competition with Strasbourg. He was also convincing in the Champions League and was voted the best winger of the 17/18 season by the news provider eurobasket.com .

In July 2018, Labeyrie signed a contract with the Spanish first division club Valencia Basket and moved abroad for the first time. With Valencia he won the European club competition EuroCup in spring 2019 .

National team

In 2012 he won bronze at the European Championships with the French U20 national team. In 2017 Labeyrie was part of the French men's national team at the EM. He was third in the 2019 World Cup with France .
