The Route nationale 188 , or N 188 or RN 188 for short , is a French national road .

Current course of the road

The current national road is a 500-meter-long connection between exit no.8 of Autobahn 10 and a junction with department road 188 in Villebon-sur-Yvette .

Historic course of the road

The historic national road was laid between Antony and Chartres in 1824. Their length was 73 kilometers. In 1949, the section between Ablis and Chartres was taken over by National Road 10 . This reduced the length to 45 kilometers. In 1973 the section between national road 446 (today's national road 118 ) and Ablis was staggered, the rest in 2006. Between Massy and Gometz-la-Ville , the N 188 was gradually put on bypass roads, some of which have been developed as expressways , but not more than N 188 are designated.
