The Route nationale 166 , or N 166 or RN 166 for short , is a French national road .

It was established between Dinard and Vannes in 1824 and goes back to route 186 impériale. Their total length was 126.5 kilometers. 1973 the section between Dinard and Ploërmel was graduated. Furthermore, the road took over the section between Ploërmel and La Chapelle-Caro from national road 164 . Between Ploërmel and Vannes, it has now been expanded into a dual carriageway, some of which are five kilometers east of the original route.
