The N209 A was set as the French national road at the same time as the N209 in 1891. In contrast to other side branches, it did not branch off from the main road in one direction, but crossed it and thus led in two directions. The eastern end was on the N205 (later N202) at Colomars; the west in Vence with no connection to any other national road. Their length was 15 kilometers. In 1933 it became part of the N210, which was downgraded to the D2210 in 1973.
