The Route nationale 143 , or N 143 or RN 143 for short , was a French national road .

The road was laid between Chambray-lès-Tours and Riom in 1824 and goes back to route 163 impériale. Their length was 280 kilometers. In 1973, the section between Châteauroux and Montluçon was graduated and the section between Montluçon and Riom was integrated into the route of the 144 national road . In 2006 the rest of the route was staggered.
