The Route nationale 198 , or N 198 or RN 198 for short , is a French national road in Corsica that was laid between Bonifacio and Casamozza in 1839. In 1854 it was extended from Bastia to Macinaggio. It ran along the N193 between Casamozza and Bastia. In 1862 there was an extension to the then N194 at Patrimonio beyond Macinaggio. In 1933 it took over the N194 from there to Saint-Florent . This northern section was downgraded to a département road in 1973. The southern part of the road, still signposted today as the N198, is 148.5 kilometers long, the stepped northern part was 109 kilometers long. In the future, the road is to be routed along Route Territoriale 10.

N1198

The N1198 is the old route of the N198 between the junction with the N193 south of Borgo and the small village of Arena. This was renumbered with the commissioning of an expressway that bypasses some places to the east and on which the N198 was placed.

N2198

The N2198 is a branch of the N198. It leads on its old route through Ponte Vecchio, after it was moved to a bypass in 1998.
