The Route nationale 164 Bis , N 164 Bis or RN 164 Bis for short , was a French national road .

The road was laid between Rennes and Rostrenen in 1837 . Their length was 135 kilometers. In 1962 it was graduated between Saint-Méen-le-Grand and Rennes and was given a new route from Saint-Méen-le-Grand to Montauban-de-Bretagne to the national road 12 , which was opened there as an expressway. In 1972 the final connection to the N 12 was completed. Until then, it ran parallel to today's Departementsstraße  61 and a municipal road. From 1978 onwards it was completely rededicated to the N 164 and expanded into a continuous expressway.
